Markel Brown’s agent Brian Jungreis provided Il Piccolo with his version of the dispute with Pallacanestro Trieste. “Although Markel remains under contract, given the current situation and the way it has been handled, we have no intention of sending him back to Trieste this season.”
According to Jungreis, Brown’s camp proposed a settlement that the club rejected. “They are demanding 83 percent of the value of a contract he has not yet been paid and are also trying to penalize him for expenses we never agreed to.” The agent also cited the ownership change, repeated management turnover and difficulties building a competitive roster among the causes of the split.
Jungreis separated Brown’s feelings for the city from his relationship with club management. “Markel loves the fans and the city of Trieste, but the way the club has handled this situation has been shocking.” He also accused general manager Michael Arcieri of disclosing confidential information and figures after asking the parties to maintain confidentiality.
