Sacramento will spread the remaining $10 million across three seasons, resulting in an annual $3.33 million cap charge

The Sacramento Kings will continue carrying DeMar DeRozan on their books for the next three seasons. According to Michael Scotto of HoopsHype, the franchise used the stretch provision on the $10 million remaining after his buyout.

Sacramento will therefore have a $3.33 million cap charge in each season from 2026-27 through 2028-29. Without the move, the full amount would have counted against the Kings’ payroll next season.

DeRozan subsequently signed a one-year, $3.9 million veteran-minimum contract with the Denver Nuggets. The six-time All-Star will pursue his first NBA championship during his 18th season.
