Jokic spoke about Wembanyama after the friendly between France and Serbia.

Serbia and France faced off in Belgrade in front of 20,000 spectators in the first of two friendly games scheduled for August, ahead of the start of the 2027 FIBA World Cup Qualifying Window. Nikola Jokic delivered another impressive performance, coming close to a triple-double with 20 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists in 29 minutes. The Nuggets star led Serbia to victory, with the game ending 90-87 in favor of the hosts.

After the game, Jokic was asked to comment on his matchup with Victor Wembanyama.

“He’s definitely special, because of how unique he is, as a player and as a person. I don’t see it as a rivalry.”

Jokic then had plenty of praise for Wembanyama, highlighting how the young Frenchman has the potential to become one of the most unique players basketball has ever seen.

“He definitely has an opportunity to be the most unique basketball player we have ever seen; it depends on how hard he is going to work, how he is going to fit, how he is going to find his spots and so on, but he definitely can be the best, the most unique one ever.”
