OG Anunoby: “We want to defend the title. All-Star? I have to keep improving”

OG Anunoby spoke to Fadeaway World about several topics, from the Knicks’ preparations to defend their NBA title to his ambitions of becoming a first-time All-Star, as well as the arrival of LeBron James and Jaylen Brown in Philadelphia.

The All-Star goal:
Anunoby: “I think it’s about continuing to do the same things that I’ve been doing. I’m improving and helping the team win games. It’s about individual improvement and team improvement.”

Defending the NBA title:
Anunoby: “It’s about picking up where we left off with the intensity. It’s different during the regular season. You want to peak toward the end of the season, not at the beginning. So it’s about understanding that it’s an 82-game season and that there will be a process of trial and error. It’s about trying things. Maybe they work, maybe they don’t. That’s what the regular season is for: figuring out what works and what doesn’t and learning, so you’re ready for the playoffs.”

The memory of the Game 4 play:
Anunoby: “It’s not that I’m over it in the sense that I don’t care about it. It’s more that I’m ready for the next season. It was great winning the championship. It was amazing. But we all want to do it again. So it’s about getting ready to start the next season. Hopefully, we can do it again.”

The best moments after winning the title:
Anunoby: “All of it. Seeing all our fans and how excited they were around the city and, really, around the world. I also loved celebrating with my teammates and coaches. We know how hard we worked for it and how long a season is. It’s a grind. So being able to win the championship was very special.”

Brown and LeBron joining Philadelphia:
Anunoby: “That’s what the NBA is every year. Players move. There are trades and free-agency situations. That’s just how it is and how it works. Everyone is just excited for the season to start and to play the games.”

The new season’s schedule:
Anunoby: “I take it one game at a time. Opening Night is the first one. So we’ll do what we need to do to prepare. Then, as the season goes on, we’ll try to take it game by game. We never really look too far ahead to later matchups.”
