San Antonio will also play in France and England next season, while the franchise continues to expand its reach beyond the city amid plans for a new downtown arena.

The San Antonio Spurs’ 2026-27 NBA schedule includes several major changes. The team will play games in France and England as part of the NBA’s Global Games, while appearing on national television a league-high 34 times.

The Spurs will also play three home games in Austin, one more than in recent seasons. The additional game is scheduled for October 23, during the weekend of the United States Grand Prix.

San Antonio remains home, but the Spurs are expanding their reach

Because of their international commitments involving Victor Wembanyama, the Spurs will play just 36 of their 41 regular-season home games in San Antonio.

“San Antonio is home, and we’re looking forward to bringing our community together while reaching audiences in Austin, Paris and Manchester,” Spurs CEO RC Buford said.

The move is also part of the franchise’s broader strategy to strengthen its presence along the I-35 corridor connecting San Antonio and Austin.

The new downtown arena project

The scheduling decisions come as uncertainty remains surrounding the financing of a proposed new arena complex in downtown San Antonio.

In November, Bexar County voters approved $311 million in public funding for the project, which is part of the larger $1.3 billion Project Marvel development plan.

The Spurs have committed at least $500 million toward construction and have also agreed to cover potential cost overruns. San Antonio’s city council separately approved $489 million in municipal bond funding.

Buford: “The vote has taken place”

San Antonio Mayor Gina Ortiz Jones has pushed for residents to reauthorize the city’s financial commitment this fall, citing a projected budget deficit.

Buford, however, has made the Spurs’ position clear:

“The vote has taken place. The commitments have been made. The work is underway.“

The 2026-27 season will therefore be significant for the Spurs both on and off the court, with the franchise balancing its international expansion, its growing presence in Austin and the long-term project of building a new home in downtown San Antonio.
