La Laguna Tenerife has officially signed Arturs Kurucs for the 2026-27 season. The 26-year-old Latvian combo guard, capable of playing both point guard and shooting guard, joins the Canary Islands club after spending the last two seasons with Río Breogán.
Born in Cesis and standing 1.93 meters (6-foot-4), Kurucs brings extensive experience at both the domestic and European levels. He has appeared in 168 Liga Endesa games with Baskonia, UCAM Murcia, and Río Breogán, while also playing 70 EuroLeague games and 30 Basketball Champions League contests.
Kurucs began his career with VEF Riga before joining Baskonia’s youth academy in 2015, where he eventually made his professional debut. During a loan spell back in Latvia, he helped his team win the Baltic League title in the 2019-20 season and earned a spot on the competition’s All-League Team.

After leaving Baskonia, he played for Promitheas Patras, UCAM Murcia, and most recently Río Breogán, where he averaged 6.9 points and 2.0 rebounds per game during the 2025-26 campaign.
Kurucs has represented Latvia at every youth level before becoming a regular member of the senior national team. He was part of the Latvian squad that finished an impressive fifth at the 2023 FIBA World Cup and also competed at EuroBasket 2025.
With the addition of Kurucs, La Laguna Tenerife adds international experience, versatility, and valuable depth to its backcourt ahead of the new season.
