Ostoja Mijailovic says the club is often linked with players it never contacts and rejects the narrative of losing transfer races that never happened.

Partizan Mozzart Bet president Ostoja Mijailovic has pushed back against the growing number of transfer rumors linking the Serbian club with high-profile players during the EuroLeague offseason.

Speaking to Serbian newspaper Kurir, Mijailovic acknowledged that Partizan occasionally misses out on transfer targets but insisted that many of the reported negotiations are completely fictional.

“Of course it happens that we don’t sign certain players, but the public needs to know one thing: not every player linked with Partizan was actually in negotiations with Partizan.”

To support his point, Mijailovic cited the case of Nick Weiler-Babb, who recently signed with Crvena Zvezda.

“Weiler-Babb was offered to us. We evaluated him and decided he didn’t fit our vision of the team. We never made an offer and we never entered negotiations.”

According to the Partizan president, the same applies to many other names that have appeared in media reports throughout the summer.

“The media connected us with dozens of players we never even contacted.”

Mijailovic also criticized the narrative that emerges whenever those players eventually sign elsewhere.

“Then, when a player joins another club, the story becomes that Partizan ‘lost the race.’ That’s simply not true. I understand that sensational headlines sell news, but I don’t accept creating the image that Partizan is failing in the market based on fictional negotiations.”
