Luka Doncic has shared his thoughts on the Los Angeles Lakers’ ownership change, welcoming Josh Kushner and Bob Iger as the franchise prepares for a new era. The record-breaking $12.5 billion sale is still awaiting NBA Board of Governors approval but marks a major milestone in the organization’s history.
In a message posted on social media, Doncic said wearing the Lakers jersey means everything to him and reiterated his goal of bringing another NBA championship to Los Angeles. He added that after experiencing several major changes in recent years, he believes the iconic franchise has unlimited potential and is eager to work alongside the new ownership group.

Following LeBron James’ departure, Doncic has become the centerpiece of the Lakers’ long-term project. Acquired from the Dallas Mavericks in February 2025, the Slovenian guard later signed a three-year, $165 million contract extension to remain in Los Angeles.
Lakers legend Magic Johnson also praised the ownership transition, expressing confidence that Kushner and Iger can help return the franchise to championship contention.
