This new revelation could potentially open another front in the investigation involving the player and the Clippers

Kawhi Leonard’s situation has become even more complicated. According to a new investigation by Pablo Torre, the Los Angeles Clippers star allegedly had an undisclosed multimillion-dollar sponsorship deal with Daktronics, the company that built the massive video board at Intuit Dome.

According to an anonymous source close to the project, the deal was allegedly used to circumvent the salary cap, in a similar fashion to the allegations at the center of the NBA’s ongoing investigation into Leonard’s relationship with Aspiration.

The source claims that money was funneled from the Clippers to Daktronics and then to Leonard through the sponsorship agreement. A former high-ranking Clippers executive also reportedly confirmed being aware of the deal.

The length and financial terms of the alleged agreement are currently unknown. A Daktronics spokesperson provided conflicting information, saying they understood that the company does not currently have a deal with Leonard.

The NBA is already investigating Leonard’s relationship with Aspiration, and this new revelation could potentially open another front in the investigation involving the player and the Clippers.

In the meantime, the seven-time All-Star has been traded to the Toronto Raptors, but the parties have opted to put the trade on hold pending the conclusion of the previous investigation into Aspiration.
