After missing out on LeBron James, the Cleveland Cavaliers have turned to Mario Hezonja. According to Chris Fedor of cleveland.com, the franchise has agreed to a one-year, $2.8 million deal with the Croatian forward, with the goal of signing him away from Real Madrid.
The deal has not yet been made official, but cleveland.com reports there is no concern about it falling through. Cleveland expects Hezonja to be part of the every-night rotation, adding much-needed frontcourt depth after Dean Wade left for the Sixers in free agency.
The Cavaliers are still active on the market. According to the report, Cleveland has expressed interest in DeMar DeRozan, Peyton Watson and Jonathan Kuminga. The Kuminga and Watson situations are more complicated financially: Kuminga is seeking an annual deal in the $15-20 million range and would require a sign-and-trade with Atlanta, while Watson has received a reported four-year, $70 million offer from Denver.
