Pallacanestro Varese have announced the signing of David Duke Jr. to a multi-year deal. The 1.95-meter American guard will join Openjobmetis’ roster next season, bringing athleticism, physicality and two-way impact.
Born in Providence on April 13, 1999, Duke Jr. played three seasons at Providence College, averaging 16.8 points, 6.3 rebounds and 4.8 assists as a junior. After going undrafted in 2021, he signed with the Brooklyn Nets, playing 45 NBA games and standing out in the G League with the Long Island Nets, where he averaged 22.9 points, 6.1 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 1.9 steals in 2022-23, earning All-NBA G League First Team honors.
Duke Jr. later played for the Delaware Blue Coats, San Antonio Spurs, Austin Spurs, Phoenix Suns, Perth Wildcats and Bàsquet Manresa. “We are very happy to have reached an agreement with David,” said Varese General Manager of Basketball Strategy Maksim Horowitz, highlighting his ability to impact both ends of the floor and raise the team’s level of professionalism.
