Kyle Kuzma took to X to share his thoughts on a topic that is often discussed among professional athletes: the impact of taxes, fees and lifestyle choices on their earnings.
The Milwaukee Bucks forward wrote:
“Ngl it’s exhausting hearing athletes break down how their millions ‘aren’t really millions’ after taxes and fees. 40M after taxes is still 40M. The real issue isn’t the system, it’s lifestyle creep. Nobody told you to live like a king, buy 5 cars, or move with a 10-person entourage. Modest is allowed.”
Kuzma speaks from experience, having earned just over $100 million from NBA contracts throughout his career, not including the approximately $20.5 million salary expected for the final season of his current deal with the Milwaukee Bucks.
The forward was likely responding to recent comments from Odell Beckham Jr., the New York Giants wide receiver, who discussed the financial challenges professional athletes face after taxes, agent fees and other expenses are taken into account.
Odell Beckham Jr. reveals the real math on a $100,000,000 NFL contract:
• On paper → $100,000,000
• Actually guaranteed → $60,000,000
• After taxes → $12,000,000/yr
• Car, house for mom, living → $4,000,000/yr
• What’s left → $8,000,000/yr
• Five years. Then it’s… pic.twitter.com/IzZPYMjaGT— katsu (@katsuxbt) July 12, 2026
