The Sacramento Kings are waiving DeMar DeRozan, making the veteran guard one of the top available players on the NBA market. According to Shams Charania, both sides worked collaboratively on the resolution after exploring trade routes.
DeRozan had a partial guarantee on his contract for next season. Bobby Marks reported that his $25.7 million salary was guaranteed for $10 million, with Sacramento having until the end of August to waive-and-stretch the amount over three seasons.
The move will push the Kings below both salary-cap aprons. Multiple contenders are expected to show interest in DeRozan, who is now set to look for a new team after leaving Sacramento.
