The Portuguese big man stays in Boston after the team picked up his option for next season

Neemias Queta will remain with the Boston Celtics. According to Shams Charania of ESPN, the Portuguese big man will sign a new four-year, $56 million extension with the franchise.

The Celtics picked up Queta’s team option for next season, then added four fully guaranteed years through 2030-31. He has established himself as an important piece in Boston’s rotation.

Selected in the second round by the Sacramento Kings in 2021, Queta went through two-way contracts and prove-it multiyear deals before landing the new agreement. Last season, he averaged 10.2 points and 8.4 rebounds per game.
