Boston Celtics may have assets to pursue Trey Murphy III

The Boston Celtics may not be done after the deal that sent Jaylen Brown to Philadelphia and brought back Paul George and draft picks. According to Chris Mannix of Sports Illustrated, Boston now has enough assets to pursue Trey Murphy III.

The Celtics have reportedly kicked the tires on the New Orleans Pelicans forward. The two first-round picks acquired from Philadelphia, especially the 2028 and unprotected 2031 selections, give Boston more flexibility on the trade market.

The 2028 pick could eventually become the Clippers’ selection, while the 2031 pick belongs to Philadelphia. According to Mannix, those assets give the Celtics more material to build a potential offer for Murphy.
