Barcelona close to signing EuroCup standout Umoja Gibson

The Cedevita Olimpija guard is in advanced talks with the Catalan club and would not occupy a non-EU roster spot thanks to his Bulgarian passport.

Barcelona are reportedly in advanced negotiations to sign Umoja Gibson following his impressive EuroCup campaign with Cedevita Olimpija Ljubljana.

According to BasketNews, the 27-year-old guard is nearing an agreement with the Spanish powerhouse after establishing himself as one of the competition’s top performers. Although American-born, Gibson holds a Bulgarian passport, allowing him to count as an EU player under ACB regulations.

He narrowly missed a spot on the All-EuroCup Team after averaging 15.9 points, 4.9 assists, 2.2 rebounds, 1.4 steals and a 17.2 PIR while shooting 38% from three-point range.
