Sergio Scariolo’s future on the Real Madrid bench may no longer be guaranteed. According to Mundo Deportivo, the return of Juan Carlos Sánchez as the strong man of the basketball section has not fully removed doubts about the Italian coach’s position.
A trophyless season and conversations with players have reportedly led Real Madrid to seriously consider a coaching change, despite Scariolo still having two years left on his contract and the significant compensation that would come with a dismissal.
According to Encestando, Paco Redondo, former assistant to Pablo Laso and Chus Mateo, is one possible replacement. However, Mundo Deportivo reports that Dimitris Itoudis is the preferred option, with early contacts already taking place. The Greek coach is currently with Hapoel Tel Aviv.
Real Madrid are also active on the player market. Marca mentions French forward Timothé Luwawu-Cabarrot, from Baskonia, and American guard with Slovak passport David DeJulius, from UCAM Murcia, as targets for the Spanish powerhouse.
