Sergio Scariolo’s continuity as Real Madrid head coach is no longer as certain as it seemed a few weeks ago.
According to Nacho Duque of Marca, changes in the basketball department’s front office have altered the situation. The return of Juan Carlos Sánchez to a leading role, together with the departures of Paco Robles, Sergio Rodríguez and Martynas Pocius, has put the matter back in play.
Scariolo had initially been backed by Florentino Pérez despite a trophyless season. The Italian coach still has two years left on his contract, and a potential dismissal would carry a significant cost, reportedly around five million euros.
Another possible move being discussed inside the club is the return of Alberto Herreros, who could once again take charge of signings, with Rudy Fernández working alongside him in a supporting role.
