Paris Basketball and Besiktas Istanbul receive one-year wildcards, while the league remains committed to expanding to 24 teams in 2027-28

The Euroleague Commercial Assets Board met on Friday, June 26, in Barcelona and approved the 20-team lineup for the 2026-27 EuroLeague season.

Among the key decisions, Paris Basketball and Besiktas Istanbul were awarded one-year wildcards. The clubs also reaffirmed their commitment to expanding the competition to 24 teams from the 2027-28 season, while continuing to evaluate possible formats.

The Board also approved the extension of Real Madrid’s 10-year license. CEO Chus Bueno updated clubs on the process to transform long-term licenses into franchises, which is expected to be completed during the 2026-27 season.
