La Laguna Tenerife name Jaka Lakovic as new head coach

La Laguna Tenerife have officially appointed Jaka Lakovic as their new head coach on a two-year deal with an option for a third season.

The Slovenian coach knows Liga Endesa well, having coached 133 games as a head coach, and also has strong EuroCup experience. Tenerife will play in EuroCup next season, a competition Lakovic won and also reached the final in during his time with Gran Canaria.

Lakovic previously coached Ratiopharm Ulm and Gran Canaria, leading the Spanish club to ACB playoffs and Copa del Rey appearances in three straight seasons. As a player, he won the EuroLeague with Barcelona, while as an assistant with Slovenia he won EuroBasket 2017 gold.
