Panathinaikos lead Isaac Bonga race if NBA move does not happen

Panathinaikos have reportedly moved into a strong position in the race for Isaac Bonga, provided the Partizan Belgrade forward does not return to the NBA this offseason.

According to Sotiris Vetakis of Scoriakas, Panathinaikos currently lead the case, but Bonga’s possible NBA return remains the key factor.

The German forward was already close to a mid-season NBA move after drawing strong interest from several teams. Partizan blocked the move because Bonga did not have an in-season exit clause in his contract, which runs until 2027.

This past EuroLeague season, Bonga averaged 9.9 points, 5.6 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 14.3 PIR in 38 games with Partizan, including 28 starts.

Before returning to Europe, Bonga played in the NBA for the Los Angeles Lakers, Washington Wizards and Toronto Raptors. He is also the reigning World Cup and EuroBasket champion with Germany.
