The EuroLeague Super Cup project is becoming more concrete. The EuroLeague Board received an update on talks with potential host cities for a new preseason competition, which could start either in 2026 or 2027.
According to BasketNews, the inaugural edition could take place shortly before the start of the 2026/27 EuroLeague season, potentially on September 19-20. Abu Dhabi is among the strongest host candidates, with the UAE capital already set to host the 2027 EuroLeague Final Four.
The proposed qualification concept could include the champions of the previous two EuroLeague seasons and the reigning regular-season winner. With Olympiacos winning both the 2025/26 title and the regular season, Real Madrid could enter as runner-up alongside 2025 champion Fenerbahce. The fourth spot could be assigned as a wildcard.
