Victor Wembanyama will not receive a flagrant foul for his contact with Jalen Brunson during Game 3 of the NBA Finals between the San Antonio Spurs and New York Knicks. The league decided not to upgrade the no-call on the floor.
The play occurred with 4:44 left in the first quarter, when Brunson tried to set a screen on Wembanyama and the French big man shoved him to the ground. NBA senior vice president of referee development and training Monty McCutchen said a foul should have been called.
Wembanyama will therefore stay at two flagrant points this postseason. Players who reach four flagrant points are subject to an automatic suspension.
