The New York Knicks are heading back to the NBA Finals for the first time since 1999, completing a four-game sweep of the Cleveland Cavaliers in the Eastern Conference finals and ending a 27-year wait.
Mike Brown’s team has built one of the most dominant playoff runs in recent NBA history, winning 11 straight postseason games. “I feel like the word hope has been gone from the New York Knicks name for a long time, and for me to be part of this team that revives hope is something special,” said Karl-Anthony Towns.
It will be New York’s third Finals appearance since its last NBA title in 1973, after losses in 1994 to Houston and in 1999 to San Antonio. Jalen Brunson was named series MVP, while Knicks legends Walt “Clyde” Frazier and Patrick Ewing presented the Bob Cousy Trophy to the Eastern Conference champions.
