Zalgiris Kaunas is on the verge of bringing back a major name in Lithuanian basketball, as 31-year-old guard Marius Grigonis is set to leave Panathinaikos AKTOR after four seasons.
The news was reported by Donatas Urbonas of BasketNews.
Following a 2024/25 campaign in which he managed just six appearances due to injury, Grigonis has been used sparingly this season by Ergin Ataman in the EuroLeague, averaging only five minutes per game. His role was different in the Greek domestic league, where the guard posted 10.1 points and 2.6 assists in 23 minutes across eight appearances.
Grigonis is therefore very close to returning to the club where he developed as a player, and where he previously spent three seasons from 2018/19 to 2020/21, before moving to CSKA Moscow.
