The Red Storm and the Orange are set to renew their historic rivalry at Madison Square Garden in the 2026-27 season.

St. John’s and Syracuse are finalizing an agreement to meet next season at Madison Square Garden, multiple sources told College Hoops Today. While the official date and announcement are still pending, the matchup is expected to be one of the highlights of the 2026-27 non-conference schedule.

The contest features a compelling coaching battle: Rick Pitino enters his fourth year at St. John’s following a dominant season where the Red Storm captured the Big East Tournament title. Syracuse, meanwhile, will be led by alum Gerry McNamara in his first season at the helm. McNamara, who previously coached at Siena, returns to his alma mater with the task of revitalizing the Orange program in the ACC.

The meeting at “The World’s Most Famous Arena” revitalizes a classic Big East rivalry that dates back decades, providing a high-profile stage for both New York-based fanbases.
