Joel Embiid is looking ahead after the Philadelphia 76ers were eliminated by the New York Knicks. The Sixers star said he feels optimistic about his knee and his availability going forward.
Following Philadelphia’s 144-114 Game 4 loss and Eastern Conference semifinals sweep, Joel Embiid said he is “as confident as I’ve ever been” about his health. He stressed that being more available will be the key goal for next season.
Embiid’s campaign was again affected by injuries, including knee issues, an emergency appendectomy and hip and ankle problems during the Knicks series. Still, he said many of the physical setbacks were connected to returning quickly from surgery.
Embiid averaged 24.0 points, 7.3 rebounds and 5.4 assists in seven playoff games, but Philadelphia once again fell short of the Conference Finals. “Everybody just got to get better,” Embiid said, referring to ownership, front office, players and coaches.
