The Cleveland Cavaliers are not turning James Harden’s struggles into a major concern. In the 107-97 loss to the Detroit Pistons in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference semifinals, Harden shot 3-of-13 from the field, went 0-of-4 from three and committed four turnovers.
Donovan Mitchell, who scored 31 points, defended his teammate: “He’s James Harden; we’re not sitting here worried. He’s going to figure this out.” Coach Kenny Atkinson also took responsibility for Harden’s limited role after halftime: “Can’t have our Hall of Famer taking two shots in the second half. I’ll take that one.”
The Cavs now trail 2-0 in the NBA playoff series against Detroit, with Game 3 set for Saturday in Cleveland. Harden said he was “just missing shots” and stressed the need to understand what works best for the team.
