Jarred Vanderbilt suffered a full dislocation of his right pinkie during the Los Angeles Lakers’ 108-90 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder in Game 1 of their Western Conference semifinals series.
The injury happened in the second quarter, when Vanderbilt tried to contest a dunk by Chet Holmgren and hit his finger on the corner of the backboard. According to ESPN, Vanderbilt needed stitches after the game because the bone in the dislocated finger broke the skin.
JJ Redick called it “a freak injury” after checking on Vanderbilt on the court, while LeBron James said: “If Vando was in pain, then something actually really happened.” Vanderbilt finished Game 1 with 2 points and 1 rebound in 6 minutes.
