Austin Reaves is targeting a return in Game 3 of the series between the Los Angeles Lakers and Houston Rockets. According to the latest update attributed to ESPN, Reaves plans to try to play tonight, but if he cannot get through warmups, the expectation is that he would return in Game 4 instead.
The latest reporting had already pointed in that direction. Reaves was upgraded to questionable for Game 3, the clearest sign yet that he is nearing a comeback after missing the opening playoff games because of a Grade 2 oblique strain.
It would be a significant boost for the Lakers, even with the team already holding a 2-0 lead in the series. Reaves’ return would give JJ Redick another major backcourt option at a time when Luka Doncic is still sidelined and Los Angeles continues to manage its rotation carefully.
