Among the cases that emerged from the EuroLeague Competitive Balance Standards review, LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne stand out as the most serious from a disciplinary standpoint. The French club failed to reach the required Low Remuneration Level and must therefore distribute a total of €1,280,924 among its registered players, matching the gap between its player remuneration and the minimum threshold set for the 2025-26 season.
Unlike the other clubs required to make payments under the Competitive Balance Compensation mechanism, ASVEL’s situation also resulted in an actual sanction. The Finance Panel imposed a €25,000 fine and a ban on registering players and coaches until the overdue payables are settled and the required documentation is provided.
That is what makes the club’s situation especially sensitive. Beyond the financial and regulatory issues, ASVEL’s participation in next season’s EuroLeague also remains in doubt until the organization fully resolves its position.
