The 2025-26 EuroLeague season marks the first year of the gradual implementation of the Competitive Balance Standards, which will be fully enforced starting in 2027-28. After the close of the player registration period on February 25, Euroleague Basketball reviewed each club’s compliance with the Low Remuneration Level and the Base Remuneration Level.
In that framework, the amounts due from Anadolu Efes (€1,071,676), Hapoel Tel Aviv (€998,027), Olympiacos (€303,290) and Panathinaikos (€3,065,691) are not described as fines, but as Competitive Balance Compensation. Those funds will be redistributed equally among the clubs that remained within the established thresholds. The total amount collected, €5,438,684, will be shared by 15 clubs, with €362,579 going to each.
A different case is LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne, which failed to reach the minimum required remuneration level. The club must distribute €1,280,924 among its registered players and has also received an actual sanction from the Finance Panel: a €25,000 fine plus a ban on registering players and coaches until the overdue payables are settled and the required documents are submitted.
