According to Eurohoops, EuroLeague CEO Chus Bueno and NBA EME managing director Giorgos Aivazoglou will be in Istanbul.

The Fenerbahce vs Real Madrid clash will also provide the backdrop for another step in the discussions over the future of European basketball. According to Eurohoops, Chus Bueno, EuroLeague’s CEO, and Giorgos Aivazoglou, NBA EME managing director, have been invited to attend the game in Istanbul.

The key point, however, is that no formal meetings are expected in Turkey, despite reports suggesting otherwise. Eurohoops adds that the only formal meeting between all parties is still scheduled for April 28, while talks are expected to intensify after the bidding process for potential NBA Europe investors officially closed.

The wider calendar also matters. A EuroLeague Board meeting is scheduled for April 14, with the 2026-27 competition format among the issues to be discussed, and the possibility of collaboration with the NBA remains one of the most important topics on the table. Meanwhile, the NBA Europe project is still targeting an October 2027 launch.
