Cooper Flagg delivered a spectacular performance, finishing with 51 points in the Dallas Mavericks’ 138-127 loss to the Orlando Magic. The rookie exploded for 24 points in the fourth quarter and became the youngest player in NBA history to reach the 50-point mark.
The game also featured major controversy with the officials. After a non-call on contact with Desmond Bane, Flagg was assessed a technical foul, while Jason Kidd and Naji Marshall were both ejected during the sequence for arguing with referees. Kidd later strongly backed his rookie after the game.
Historically, the performance puts Flagg in elite company: he became only the ninth rookie in NBA history to score at least 50 points in a game. Even in a difficult season for Dallas, the former Duke star strengthened his case in the Rookie of the Year race.
