AEK Athens applies for NBA Europe license

Makis Angelopoulos submits detailed bid as the only Greek club among over 50 interested organizations.

Makis Angelopoulos, owner of AEK Athens, has officially applied for a license in Athens as part of the NBA Europe project, according to Eurohoops. As announced by Mark Tatum, more than 50 organizations have expressed interest, with AEK currently the only Greek club involved.

The proposal includes a detailed 100-page dossier covering arena upgrades, increased capacity, and financial plans. Angelopoulos, who became a shareholder in 2014, aims to elevate the club’s status in European basketball.

AEK has been a regular participant in the Basketball Champions League.
