According to Alessandro Maggi of Realolimpiamilano, the situation is now clear: Quinn Ellis will not suit up for Olimpia Milano during the 2026/2027 season.
The British point guard has informed the Milanese club of his decision to play in the NCAA; the only remaining question is which program he will choose for this new chapter.
As reported by Realolimpiamilano: “Both parties have been in talks for some time, and one thing is certain: Quinn Ellis has expressed his intention to play in the NCAA next season.
And he will follow through with it. Quinn Ellis will not be on the roster for the 2026-2027 EuroLeague or LBA campaigns with Olimpia Milano. That much is for sure. While there were rumors of hesitation in recent days, they were actually only regarding his final destination.
Quinn Ellis has received offers from numerous top-tier colleges. Louisville and Duke were the first to reach out directly, but Kentucky, Texas Tech, and several others have also entered the mix.”
However, following the 2027 March Madness tournament, Ellis is set to return to Milan. A formal agreement with Olimpia is expected to be put in writing shortly. According to ROM:
“Olimpia Milano, for their part, had few other options to explore—given that the NCAA market currently lacks the formal regulations governing its relationship with Europe that the NBA has—and focused on a single objective: minimizing their losses.
We have now reached the final stages, and the signatures are imminent. Quinn Ellis will make his return to the red-and-white by the second half of April 2027 at the latest. He will finish the season with the team before beginning a new two-year contract with renegotiated financial terms. With Olimpia Milano, of course.”
