The Italian forward remains a key piece for Jasikevicius despite injury setback

Fenerbahce is reportedly close to reaching an agreement to extend Nicolò Melli’s contract. The Italian big man is currently sidelined with an injury, but he has been a crucial piece in coach Sarunas Jasikevicius’ system throughout the season.

After reports from Sportando and Eurodevotion, confirmation has also arrived from BasketNews, with the two sides now reportedly very close to finalizing a deal that would keep Melli at Fenerbahce for the coming years.

So far in this EuroLeague season, Melli has averaged 6.5 points and 5.0 rebounds per game, providing a strong impact, especially on the defensive end of the floor.
