According to ESPN, the Miami Heat are expected to part ways with Terry Rozier before the postseason in order to free up a roster spot. Rozier has been away from the team since Oct. 23, when he was arrested as part of a federal investigation into illegal gambling.
The situation also affected the trade that brought him to Miami from Charlotte in January 2024, with the Hornets later sending a second-round pick to the Heat to settle the dispute. Rozier’s $26.6 million contract expires this summer, though his salary has been placed in escrow while the legal case continues.
To clear waivers before the regular season ends, Rozier would need to be released by 5 p.m. on April 9. He has pleaded not guilty to conspiracy charges involving wire fraud and money laundering.
