Donovan Mitchell sat out Cleveland’s 115-110 win over the Chicago Bulls because of a bruised left eye suffered earlier this week after a collision in practice with Evan Mobley. Mitchell had played through the issue against Milwaukee, but later admitted he could barely see out of that eye.
Coach Kenny Atkinson said Mitchell dealt with blurry vision in the previous game, though the injury was not considered dangerous or a scratched cornea. The Cavaliers decided to rest him and allow the eye to clear up properly before bringing him back.
Cleveland was also without Jarrett Allen, who missed his seventh straight game with right knee tendinitis. Mitchell is averaging 28.0 points, 5.9 assists and 4.5 rebounds in 61 games this season.
