FC Barcelona released a statement on Wednesday detailing the internal “cohabitation” framework involving Joan Laporta and Rafa Yuste, with Josep Cubells set to act as vice president and secretary, handling institutional duties.
As a result, Cubells will no longer oversee the basketball section, a role that will be taken over by Sisco Pujol on an interim basis until June 30, 2026. The club adds that, until the new board takes office (scheduled for July 1, 2026), responsibility will rest with Francesc Pujol i Sabaté.
According to journalist Marc Mundet and as reported/confirmed by Mundo Deportivo, the expectation is that Cubells may not return to the basketball department after that date. The piece notes Pujol, 60, has previously served as a board member at Hiopos Lleida and as president of Club Deportivo EFAC Almacelles.
