A federal judge in Brooklyn has set Sunday, Nov. 2, 2026 as the trial start date for Chauncey Billups, former NBA guard Damon Jones, and nearly three dozen co-defendants in the alleged rigged illegal poker case. At the United States Courthouse in New York, Judge Ramon Reyes set the date, with prosecutors and defense attorneys expected to discuss how to divide the case because there are too many defendants to try at once.
Federal prosecutors said they plan to extend plea offers to 12 defendants in the coming days, while at least nine others are in “productive conversations” about pleading guilty. The latest filing did not specify whether Billups is among those considering a plea deal. Billups, Jones and the other defendants have pleaded not guilty, as prosecutors allege they lured unsuspecting players into mob-rigged poker games, aided by organized crime figures and equipment suppliers.
According to filings, evidence includes body-worn camera footage, arrest records, electronic evidence from devices and iCloud accounts, 100,000+ pages of financial and phone records, surveillance photos and pole camera footage tied to a Manhattan location. Billups has been on unpaid administrative leave from the Portland Trail Blazers and is living in the Denver area after being released on $5 million bail.
