Tyrese Haliburton has been diagnosed with shingles and will be away from the Indiana Pacers for “a few weeks,” head coach Rick Carlisle said. Haliburton hasn’t played this season due to the torn Achilles he suffered in Game 7 of last year’s NBA Finals.
Carlisle described it as a unique situation that developed over the last few days, after Haliburton experienced unusual symptoms while set to meet the team in Washington, D.C. “It’s a very painful thing… he will make a full recovery,” Carlisle added, noting Haliburton has stayed upbeat.
Without their star point guard, the Pacers are 15-43, the worst record in the Eastern Conference. Shingles is caused by the same virus responsible for chicken pox and typically comes with a painful rash.
