Johnny Furphy is expected to miss the rest of the season after tearing the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee, the Indiana Pacers announced Monday. He was injured in the third quarter of Sunday’s 122-104 loss at Toronto.
Team officials said Furphy was taken to the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York, where an MRI confirmed the diagnosis. Indiana is in New York to face the New York Knicks on Tuesday.
The Australian forward, a 2024 second-round pick, had earned a larger role due to the Pacers’ injury issues, making 21 starts while averaging 5.1 points and 4.4 rebounds. Indiana’s injury list remains extensive, and the team is also monitoring new center Ivica Zubac, who is dealing with an ankle issue.
