A third team could be involved in the deal to take on Saric’s expiring contract, with a future second-round pick potentially included as compensation.
Cleveland has also explored Hunter trade scenarios with the Los Angeles Lakers, who reportedly offered Rui Hachimura and Dalton Knecht in return. In that case as well, the involvement of a third team would likely be necessary to make the finances work.
Hunter is averaging 14 points and 4.2 rebounds per game, though he is posting career-low shooting percentages from the field and from three-point range.
The Virginia product is under contract through 2027, with $24.9 million owed for next season.
