Malachi Flynn becomes Turkish citizen, eligible for national team

Bahçeşehir Koleji guard is the latest American player naturalized by Türkiye ahead of FIBA competitions.

Türkiye has naturalized another American player who could potentially represent the national team in future FIBA tournaments. Bahçeşehir Koleji Istanbul announced that guard Malachi Flynn has officially obtained Turkish citizenship.

This season, Flynn has been one of the most exciting players in the EuroCup, averaging 17.8 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 3.9 assists per game, establishing himself as one of the competition’s top performers.

Before signing with the Turkish club last offseason, Flynn spent his entire professional career moving between the NBA and the G League.

Across 217 career NBA regular-season games, he has averaged 5.5 points, 1.7 rebounds, and 1.9 assists.

His most memorable performance came on April 3, 2024, when he exploded for 50 points off the bench against the Atlanta Hawks, one of the highest-scoring bench performances in recent NBA history.
