The Memphis Grizzlies are optimistic Ja Morant could return from a calf injury Sunday at the O2 Arena.
Memphis is keeping its focus on the rematch with the Orlando Magic, downplaying trade noise.
Iisalo said there’s a “good chance” Morant plays after completing a full practice on Saturday, with a final check coming Sunday morning. “There are no guarantees… he’s got to feel comfortable with how the calf feels,” the coach added.
Morant missed the Berlin opener of the NBA Europe series, a 118-111 loss, and NBA commissioner Adam Silver admitted disappointment because Morant “has a tremendous following globally.” The 26-year-old guard did not address media after practice.
Asked about trade rumors, Iisalo stressed the team is “focused on doing the work,” and called his relationship with Morant “very good.” Jaylen Wells echoed the mindset: “Doesn’t really matter what happens on the outside,” as Morant has missed six straight games and last played on Dec. 2 vs the Lakers.
