Indiana Pacers: Mathurin “out for a while” with thumb sprain and turf toe

The Indiana Pacers have decided to sideline Bennedict Mathurin, who had been playing through a right thumb sprain and also has turf toe.
Indiana is now shutting him down, with no immediate return timeline provided.

Carlisle noted the team had started to get some bodies back, but is now losing another key piece.
“When we’re down numbers, it becomes more challenging… but now Mathurin’s out for a while,” the coach said.

Mathurin tried to push through the thumb issue for multiple games, but his shooting and scoring dipped and he was seen flexing his thumb during games.
The Pacers remain without Tyrese Haliburton and Obi Toppin on long-term injuries, while Isaiah Jackson has also missed several games.
