The Dallas Mavericks edged out the Denver Nuggets in a thrilling finish last night, with both Cooper Flagg and Anthony Davis scoring over 30 points to lead the way.
The rookie came close to recording the first triple-double of his career, finishing with 33 points, nine rebounds and nine assists, while shooting an impressive 14-of-21 from the field and 4-of-6 from beyond the arc.
Anthony Davis added 31 points on 12-of-19 shooting, along with nine rebounds, four assists and three steals.
Fresh off celebrating his 19th birthday, Flagg explained simply after the game what has fueled his recent growth.
“I’m just having fun. Honestly, I’ve always felt like I play my best when I’m able to play freely and enjoy myself,” Flagg said.
“So I’m just trying to get everyone involved, keep the energy high and enjoy the game.”
Davis is also improving game after game, something that comes as no surprise to head coach Jason Kidd.
“He was a monster last night, and he was a monster again tonight,” Kidd said. “It was just about getting him on the floor with the other guys, building minutes and challenging him. That’s the purpose of this process. I think AD has taken a lot of steps forward and is playing at an extremely high level.”
