Franz Wagner’s night at Madison Square Garden ended early, as the Orlando Magic star left in the first quarter with a lower left leg injury. He had already scored 7 points in 7 minutes before being forced to the locker room.
Wagner, who leads Orlando with 23.4 points per game, landed awkwardly after going up for a dunk following a foul by Knicks center Ariel Hukporti. He immediately grabbed at the area below his knee and needed help from teammates to leave the floor.
The Magic announced that Wagner will be re-evaluated upon the team’s return to Orlando, ahead of Tuesday’s NBA Cup quarterfinal against the Miami Heat. No further details on the severity of his injury were provided right after the game.
