President Joan Laporta said that Barça plans to sign the proposed 10-year EuroLeague renewal, but only with “freedom of movement” to allow a switch to NBA Europe if that project becomes reality. The current license expires in June 2026, and as a founding member the club does not want to lose its rights.
Laporta revealed that the NBA wants to set up a European division, with a franchise in every major city, including Barcelona. The proposals would guarantee fixed revenue well above current levels, but in return the league would seek to manage the Palau Blaugrana or even build it themselves, a sensitive issue for a 126-year-old club.
On the roster side, the president confirmed the signing of Xavi Pascual and a three-year project, while stressing financial limits. No new additions are planned for now, but Laporta admitted that, in the event of a “major setback,” Barça would look for a way to make signings if absolutely necessary.
